Briar Rose Platter/Bowl — Double-Sided Companion Texture Set
A generously scaled two-sided texture set designed to turn the underside of a platter into part of the piece, rather than something hidden away.
 
The underside of the Briar Rose Platter/Bowl form carries the richer composition, arranged around a clear central foot.  The shallow integrated food worked perfectly as is, or allows a perfect guide for forming or attaching a deeper footring.
The top-side texture is quieter and more open, with the briar rose detail concentrated around the rim so the centre of the platter remains clear and functional.
Used together, the two sheets let you sandwich your slab and texture both sides before forming.
The result is a platter with a strong sense of front and back: a restrained serving surface above, and a more detailed underside that rewards being picked up, turned over and handled.

Using your Companion Textures
Roll your slab slightly ticker than your preferred thickness, then texture each surface using the coordinating sheets before allowing the design to set up, and forming the platter over or into your chosen mold.
 
The underside includes an integrated footring, while the top-side design keeps the decorative detail around the rim and leaves the centre open for food, glaze and form to do some of the work.
 
As with all Magpie Texture Co. tools, this is designed as a making system rather than a finished-form mold, leaving plenty of room for your own clay body, construction and glaze choices to shape the final piece.
