A richly detailed feature texture inspired by traditional carved leatherwork.

Feathers curl, overlap and sweep through the design in a dense, ornamental arrangement, with the flowing scrollwork giving it an almost baroque feel. The composition has plenty of movement, but the individual feathers remain strong enough to read clearly once pressed into clay.

At 370mm diameter, this is designed as a substantial feature sheet for platters, large bowls and statement pieces. Use the full circular composition, crop sections of it into smaller forms, or position a slab selectively over the design to pull out your favourite areas.

The outer border gives the full design a beautifully resolved edge when used as a complete platter or bowl texture.

Material: Laser-engraved EVA texture sheet

Designed for pressing texture into soft clay for slab building and hand building.

Why Potters Love It

  • Strong centred composition
  • Clear, readable impressions in clay
  • Open areas allow beautiful glaze movement
  • Works as both a full focal image and selective feature texture
  • Compatible with Magpie masks and templates for repeatable Tableware design

Best Suited For

  • Dinner plates and platters
  • tall forms, pitchers, vases
  • Wall pieces
  • Framed focal areas
  • Layered glazing and oxide washes

How To Use

Roll evenly into soft slab clay using consistent pressure. The centred design can be used as a complete focal composition or selectively framed using masks and templates from the Magpie Dinnerware System.

A small amount of dark residue may appear during the first few uses as part of the laser production process. This burns out completely during firing.
