Storybook Christmas Village 2026 — Four-Building Texture Set

A little street of ceramic Christmas buildings, ready to make in clay.

The Storybook Christmas Village is a coordinated set of four slab-built buildings: a Toy Shop, Bakery, Chapel and Two-Storey House. Each has its own ornate façade, with arched windows, decorative details and individual character, while shared roof and wall pieces help bring the village together as a collection.

Designed as the first in an ongoing series of collectible ceramic villages, each future collection can take you somewhere completely different — exploring a new architectural style, period or imagined place.

A separate 2026 date stamp is included and fits the small cartouche incorporated into each building design. Use it on one building, every building, or leave it off altogether.

How to use

The buildings are designed for slab building. Roll and texture your clay, cut around the individual components, then assemble once the clay has firmed sufficiently to hold its shape.

Several components are shared between buildings wherever practical, including wall and roof pieces. This keeps the set straightforward to use when you're making several buildings at once, without requiring a completely separate collection of construction pieces for every design.

Make the complete street, repeat your favourite building, experiment with different clay and glaze combinations, and make individual houses as handmade Christmas gifts.

The finished buildings are designed to accommodate electric tealight candles, allowing light to shine through the windows and turn them into small Christmas luminaries.

If you would like to use a real candle, you will need to cut an appropriately sized ventilation hole in the roof before assembling and firing your building. As with any ceramic candle holder, use appropriate candle safety and never leave a burning candle unattended.

Making demonstrations for the Storybook Village will be shared on The Texture Maker Instagram (@crazymessycreative), with guides also planned for the Magpie Texture Co. website.

What’s included

The set contains the engraved EVA components needed to make:

  • Toy Shop
  • Bakery
  • Chapel
  • Two-Storey House
  • Shared wall and roof components
  • 2026 date stamp

All four buildings are designed to work together, but each can also be made independently.

The Christmas Cottage

The original Christmas Cottage seen on social media (this last image in this listing) complements the Storybook Village but is not included in this four-building set.

The Cottage is only available as a free gift with qualifying orders over NZ$150, giving those customers an additional building to make alongside the four-piece Storybook Village.

Materials & Care

Laser-engraved EVA foam. Best used on soft clay.

A dark residue may transfer to clay during the first few uses. This is a result of the laser engraving process and will burn out completely during firing.

Clean with mild soap and a soft brush if clay builds up in the engraved detail. Allow the EVA to dry fully before storing flat.

A Collectible Village Series

Storybook Village is the first in a planned series of ceramic village collections.

Each new collection can take you somewhere completely different, exploring a new architectural style, period or imagined place. One year might bring Edwardian terraces, another a Mid-Century Modern neighbourhood, while other collections might wander somewhere altogether more fantastical.

The 2026 date stamp marks this first Storybook Village release. Future collections can carry their own year, creating a record of when each village joined the series.

Make the complete 2026 Storybook Village, choose the buildings you love, or return in future years to discover somewhere new.

A new village. A new story. A new collection to make in clay.

Finished ceramic buildings shown in photographs are examples of what can be made with the set. This listing is for the EVA texture and construction pieces only; finished ceramic buildings are not included.

TEALIGHT OPENING UPDATE!
Electric tealights come in quite a range of sizes! Leave the side walls whole while building for structural support. Once the clay feels sturdy, cut the opening to suit your tealight, allowing for clay shrinkage and clearance beneath the roof. For taller tealights, you can also remove the top bar of clay above the opening. You can do this with your original template. Once tested, I’ll add a video here showing the steps. If you need a hand, please get in touch.
